ODM Gear Controls in Attack on Titan Paradis

Hooks, gas boosts, blades, and the habits that keep you off the cobblestones.

ODM Controls

ODM gear is the reason Attack on Titan Paradis feels like Attack on Titan. It is also the reason most new accounts look like they are drowning in slow motion. The Roblox description refuses to print a key list in the about text: game controls are mentioned in-game. This page translates that sentence into a practice plan you can run on Paradis without opening a second wiki for a different AoT title.

Bindings can move after a shutdown. Always prefer the overlay in your current build. Community videos and comments still agree on a core set of actions.

Actions you must be able to name

ActionWhat it should doCommunity notes
Fire left hookSend the left wire to your aim pointDual hooks matter; one wire is a suggestion
Fire right hookSend the right wireMobile players struggle to fire both — see mobile
Unhook / releaseDrop a wire without waiting for the animation to finishAggressive taps on mobile; dedicated release on PC
BoostSpend gas to accelerate along the current lineUsed for nape passes and the leg-stun trick
SlashBlade swingDraw/reload first or you swing air
Reload / draw bladesPut steel in your handsRepeated answer in showcases: R on PC
TransformEnter titan formCovered on how to transform
Camera lockKeep the reticle honestUse whatever toggle the current overlay shows

If a row does nothing, you probably never equipped gear. That is a getting started problem, not a keybind problem.

Three ODM habits (from the Paradis tutorial circuit)

A dedicated Paradis ODM video boils improvement into a short circuit. You can copy the structure even if your keys differ:

  1. Look before you fire. The hook goes where the reticle is, not where your character’s chest points. Flick to a wall, then fire. Firing then looking is how you pin yourself to cobblestones.
  2. Boost on a live wire. Boost without a hook is a hop. Boost on a taut wire is travel. Save gas for the second beat of a swing, not the first.
  3. Release on purpose. The most common mobile complaint is “I cannot unhook.” On PC, release is a key-up or a dedicated cancel. On touch, you often have to tap the same ODMG button again. Practice release on an empty street so you do not learn it mid-Jaw.

Do this loop on buildings, not on a Colossal. Buildings do not swipe.

Dual hooks

One hook is a pendulum. Two hooks are a rail. The rail is how you change direction without hitting the floor. Fire the second hook before you release the first if you want to slingshot around a corner. Fire both at the same target if you want a straight, violent pull toward a nape.

Mobile users ask how to use two hooks at once because the old UI stacked the buttons badly. The map rework reworked ODMG UI buttons for mobile. If your client still shows a single tiny grapple, update Roblox and restart the experience.

Blades versus thunder spears

Controls for swinging and shooting share the attack button in many AoT Roblox clients, with the equipped tool deciding the result. In Paradis:

  • Blades teach nape geometry. You have to be at the box.
  • Thunder spears forgive distance. Scout mains who “only use swords without thunder spears” exist, and so do the opposite. Extra spears are an 80 Robux pass on the game pass list.

Reload is not optional. A dry swing during a boost wastes the only advantage you had.

Advanced: legs and napes

ODM tutorial comments on this specific game describe cutting a titan leg with a boosted swing to stun for a few seconds. That is a control skill, not a lore skill: boost, meet the limb with speed, then exit. It is harder than a nape because the hitbox is thinner and you are closer to the hand. Practice on a still target. Details and targeting sit on how to kill titans.

Nape targeting is camera work. Aim slightly above the neck box, swing through, do not stop on the surface. If you keep hitting the shoulder, your camera is low, not your damage.

Console and camera

The map update added missing console prompts. Trust those prompts over a PC screenshot. Controller triggers usually map to hooks; face buttons map to boost and reload. If your character spins while you aim, invert look in Roblox settings, not in a random script menu.

Camera collision on Marley’s remodeled streets is tighter than Paradis walls. If the reticle eats a window frame, unhook and reset. Fighting the camera is not a skill expression.

Drills (ten minutes)

  1. Wall to wall, twenty hooks, no boost. If you touch grass, restart the count.
  2. Same path with boosts. Watch the gas bar like a health bar.
  3. Dual-hook corner around one building, both directions.
  4. Boosted pass on a dummy titan nape, then a leg. One attempt each, then refill.
  5. Mobile-only: ten unhooks in a row without firing a panic second hook.

When the drills feel boring, you are ready for how to play combat. Until then, you are still learning to fly. Print the controls sheet in another tab if you need a one-screen version during a session.

Gas refill stations remain part of the control fantasy: you are not infinite. 2x ODM Gas changes the math but not the need to unhook. Buy the pass later. Learn release now.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers from the Attack on Titan Paradis wiki.

What are the ODM keys in Attack on Titan Paradis?

The official list is in-game. Community PC notes include R to draw blades and dual hooks for travel. Recheck the overlay after every shutdown.

Why will my grapples not fire?

Gear is not equipped, you are out of gas, or you are on mobile tapping the wrong ODMG button. See getting started and mobile.

How do I unhook on mobile?

Tap the active grapple control again rather than holding forever. The ODMG buttons were reworked in the map update.

Can I stun a titan without the nape?

Boosted leg cuts can stun briefly. It is a high-skill option described in Paradis ODM comments, not a replacement for napes.
